The Jiangsu government outlawed two Christian organizations.

On January 5, the Department of Civil Affairs of Jiangsu Province announced the closure of a Suzhou branch church affiliated with the Beijing Zion Church and the Elim Youth Fellowship in Lianyungang City, both of which are on the list of eight prohibited illegal social organizations, reported the Jiangsu News.

There were also two World Mission Society Church of God churches and another belonging to Jehovah's Witnesses, both of which are regarded as heresies in China.

The public is encouraged to report any suspected illegal social organizations to the local authority.
