Dr. Volker Henning Drecoll Lectures on Platonism vs. Christianity at Fudan University

The School of Philosophy at Fudan University organized a series of symposiums on Platonism and Christianity in the 4th century CE.

According to the host, from April 8 to 12 (except April 10), a series of seminars themed “Platonism and Christianity as Competitive Order in 4th c. CE” take place at the west main building of Guanghua Tower on campus. Professor Dr. Volker Henning Drecoll from the Department of Protestant Theology, Church History II, at the Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen was invited as the main lecturer for the symposiums, with Professor Yam  Cheuk Yin Colten, director of the Centre for Christian Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, serving as the commentator.

The serial lectures commenced a probe into the “Neo-Platonic Philosophy and Christianity Promises of Salvation” on April 8 and proceeded to the theme of “The One and the Many. Divine Levels and the Oneness of the Divine” the following morning. On April 11–12, seminars will cover topics on “Demons and Sacrifices. Neo-Platonic and Christian Psychology at Work” and “Allegories and the Literal Interpretation of Authoritative Texts.”
