Nowadays, it is very rare to see textbooks showing stories from the Bible especially in different languages. However, for one Chinese language book meant for Chinese seventh-graders, an excerpt from the Bible was included.
According to the Beijing Educations Scientific Research Institute staff, the translated version of the Book of Genesis' 'God created the Universe' was included for the language books of Beijing's seventh-graders. This inclusion of the excerpt was done in order to broaden the perspectives of students and help them understand other cultures and learn new stories.
Unknown to many until recently due to some controversies regarding its contents, the textbook is actually 10 years old and included additional content such as ancient Chinese myths and legends.
